How Long Does Bed Bug Treatment Take?
Bed bug treatment usually takes two visits. The first is the main treatment of every affected room; the second is a follow-up, timed for after the remaining eggs have hatched, to catch the young bugs and confirm the room is clear. How long the first visit takes depends on how many rooms, beds and pieces of furniture are involved, and your technician will tell you when you book.
Why does bed bug treatment need a follow-up?
Bed bug eggs are tucked deep into seams and cracks and are harder to kill than the adults. Some survive the first treatment and hatch in the days that follow. The follow-up visit is timed to treat those young bugs before they're old enough to lay eggs of their own, which breaks the cycle.
That's why a single spray almost never works, and why bites can continue for a short while after the first visit.
What happens on the day of treatment?
The technician inspects mattresses, bed frames, headboards, skirting, sockets and furniture joints in each affected room, then treats the places bed bugs hide with a residual treatment, using heat where suitable. Adjoining rooms are treated too, so the bugs can't simply move next door.
You'll be told which rooms to stay out of and for how long, and the visit ends with a written report.
How can I make the treatment work first time?
• Wash bedding, curtains and clothes from the affected room on high heat, dry them hot and seal them in bags. • Clear the floor and under the bed, and pull the bed and furniture slightly away from the walls. • Don't move mattresses, cushions or clothes to other rooms. • Tell us about every room where anyone has had bites, including the majlis and staff rooms. • After treatment, don't vacuum or wash treated areas until the technician says it's fine.
When should you call a professional?
• As soon as you find live bugs, blood spots or black specks on the bed. • Bites keep appearing after you've washed all the bedding. • You've tried sprays or bug bombs and the bites came back. • Bed bugs have spread to a second room. • You need a property cleared before guests, new tenants or staff move in.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I sleep in my bed the night after treatment?
Usually yes, once the treated surfaces are dry and the room has been aired. Your technician will confirm before leaving. Sleeping in the bed also helps, because bugs come out and contact the treatment.
Why am I still getting bitten after treatment?
A few bites in the days after the first visit can come from newly hatched bugs. That's what the follow-up is for. If bites continue after the follow-up, call us under the service guarantee.
Do I have to throw away my mattress?
Usually not. Treatment is designed to save furniture wherever possible, and we'll tell you clearly if anything is beyond saving.
